Here is our call to action from Fort Worth Mayor, Betsy Price:

I would like to announce the Third Annual Mayor’s Week of Compassionate Service, January 27 – February 4, 2018. I am calling on families, business leaders, faith institutions, non-profits, neighborhoods, schools and individuals from across Tarrant County to create, organize and initiate volunteer projects of your choice.

Citizens can volunteer to give a day, or even an hour to demonstrate tangible acts of compassion. Everyone can do something! Go to http://www.MayorsWeekOfService.com for more information and to register your participation in making Fort Worth a more compassionate city.

During the Second Annual Mayor’s Week of Compassionate Service, individual families, businesses both small and large, non-profits, faith institutions, neighborhoods and schools across Tarrant County created, organized and initiated 105 different activities designed to show compassion across our city. This time, we are aiming for at least 200 different compassion activities.

Empowered by the Golden Rule, “do unto others as you would have them do unto you,” 1594 volunteers served our community during the last Week of Service, and this time, we are aiming for at least 3000 volunteers.

As Fort Worth’s Mayor, this outpouring of compassion encourages me and reaffirms my belief that the best part about Fort Worth is its people! I hope to see this spirit of compassion continue to thrive across our city.

In 2014, the Fort Worth City Council signed the International Charter for Compassion, designating Fort Worth as a Compassionate City. I believe that actions motivated by the Golden Rule will help us become an even greater and more compassionate city. Several members of the Mayor’s Faith Leaders Network steward our city towards Building Bridges for a More Compassionate Fort Worth, built on the three values of Volunteerism, Unity and Abundance.

I would like to thank our Compassionate Fort Worth Committee Members: Rev. Tim Woody, Father Stephen Jasso, Rabbi Andrew Bloom, Rev. Sultan Cole, and Brent Peterson for their hard work and dedicated service.

Additional information is available on our Facebook Page, Compassionate Fort Worth.

Sincerely,

Betsy Price
Mayor
