COMPASSION EDUCATION
Our mission is to increase awareness of the critical importance of the value of compassion and to encourage enculturation in all our Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex educational institutions, especially in the formative years of education, and to encourage all individuals (students, teachers, and administrators) and educational organizations at all levels to affirm the Charter for Compassion embracing intentional compassion and compassionate action as the norm with the Golden Rule as operating principle in all actions and activities.
Compassionate Education in DFW
We recognize DFW school and educational systems seek to educate students to be good, knowledgeable persons and citizens in community, sharing the abundance and prosperity. However, we recognize there are individual and organizational problems that are barriers to realizing these goals – racial discrimination, privilege and economic disparities, and bullying to name a few.
By embracing, affirming, and enculturating (educating and training) intentional compassion at all levels of education in the DFW area, we believe by integrating intentional compassion cultivation into the educational process we can mitigate these barriers leading to more mutual and respectful relationships, transforming the private and public mindset from one of selfishness and isolation to one of compassion, peace, and sharing with empathy in our beloved DFW community.
Opportunities and Goals for Education
1. Seek opportunities to brief Presidents, Trustees, ISD School Superintendents and School Boards, Principals, Teachers, Administrators, Students and Student groups in the Dallas/Fort Worth area on the Charter for Compassion and to encourage affirmation.
2. Increase within DFW educational organizations opportunities for the institution and its constituents to learn more about what is compassion and how to become more intentional with that knowledge with compassionate action in our relations and responsibilities with others.
3. Encourage Dallas/Fort Worth educational organizations and individuals who have affirmed the Charter to explore the opportunity to participate in the International Global Unity Games held annually from September 11 to September 21, the International Day of Peace.
